 🔎 Trends & news

• Github Copilot now has a free tier for VS Code users²⁸³. It comes with 50 chat requests and 2000 completions per month. Enough to get hooked and onboard a large number of developers worldwide.

• OpenAI kinda stretched it with 12 days, didn’t it? But never mind.

  • Day 9 of OpenAI was a mini dev-day²⁸⁷. They introduced o1 to the API, added improvements (and price cuts) for the realtime API, preference fine-tuning, new SDKs for Go & Java, and more general improvements.

  • On day 10, OpenAI gave ChatGPT a mobile number: 1-800-CHATGPT i.e. +18002428478. Users in the US & Canada can call these numbers for 15 minutes a month, while other regions can text message it on WhatsApp.

  For the final 2 days, a new “Tasks” feature in ChatGPT is expected. Also, we haven’t seen anything truly for agents from OpenAI. You can watch our blog for updates²³³.
