   • Nvidia is building a new type of data centre called AI factory. Every company—biotech, self-driving, manufacturing, etc will need an AI factory.

   • Jensen is looking forward to foundational robotics and state space models. According to him, foundational robotics could have a breakthrough next year.

   • The crunch for Nvidia GPUs is here to stay. It won’t be able to catch up on supply this year. Probably not next year too.

Nvidia's in the game to make AI portable!⁵⁵⁹ They just dropped their new RTX 500 and 1000 Ada Generation laptop GPUs. Perfect if you want to run crazy generative AI models.

What is going on here?

Nvidia's announced new AI chips in a laptop-friendly package.

What does this mean?

These chips are based on Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace architecture. The heavy hitter GPUs are teamed up with an NPU (neural processing unit) which can take on light AI tasks on its own. It tackles both everyday AI stuff and seriously demanding workflows.

These new GPUs will be available this spring in laptops from Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI. Laptops with AI hardware can help increase the reach of AI tools to more people, be it students experimenting with AI stuff, businesses needing quick AI tools, and other everyday consumers.

Why should I care?

Nvidia is already the leader in providing GPUs for big training runs by AI labs and cloud clusters. It’s now also shaping up to be the winner in small leagues as well. It recently showcased a demo for local AI software⁶ and now we have more AI-enabled hardware.

Get ready for way faster on-device generative AI like Stable Diffusion or LLMs with Ollama on more devices. As AI gets baked into even more tools, having this kind of power in a laptop opens up a ton of possibilities.
