As part of AI push, Chinese tech giant Baidu is now rolling out an AI venture fund²⁸¹

Well, well, well. If it isn't China putting its foot on the gas, who else! Robin Li, co-founder and CEO of Baidu, the biggest search engine in China, just dropped a bombshell of a cool billion yuan, that's about $145 million to back generative AI companies.

But don't think he's stopping there. Baidu's got a new version of its own large-language model in the pipeline, powering its ChatGPT-esque service, Ernie Bot.

And Baidu's not the only Chinese tech titan making moves. 

• Alibaba's ready with it LLM Tongyi Qianwen.

• Tencent's also cooking up something with its foundation model, HunyuanAide.

• Also, Chinese AI startup MiniMax is raising over $250 million¹³³ from Tencent-backed entities and others.

Just a little reminder though, China's still got ChatGPT on its naughty list since it was banned back in February. But with these developments, it's clear China's not about to miss out on the AI train!

Buckle up, folks! Asana, the master of managing your workspace, joins the AI scene. They're not just bringing the usual suspects like writing assistants, summarizers, and ask-anything features.

We're talking goal-based resource management, roadblock and bottleneck identification, and self-optimizing workflows. It's like a project manager's dream come true.

Generative AI lowering the barrier for code creation could result in growing levels of complexity, technical debt, and confusion.⁵⁹²

This one’s a bummer. More people taking up coding? Superb! But when we're dealing with large-scale software, we've got to talk about those pesky quick fixes that stack up into what we fondly call 'technical debt'.

So, here's the rub: I think this whole scenario could just end up shifting the status quo. We might see junior developers or product managers churning out MVPs with code, while the senior devs (or perhaps a new role entirely) will be left to carefully implement these MVPs.

Companies are still embracing Gen AI. Here's a tip: focus less on the “coding” and more on the “solution.” That’s kinda the antidote to this problem.
